Weapons Training: If you're considering guns, know how to use and maintain them. Take a course and practice regularly. Take your time, find one that is comfortable for you to use, and don't obsess. If you're considering a variety, get weapons in a common caliber to ensure ammo versatility.
Be Assertive: Project confidence and assertiveness to deter potential attackers.
Escape Techniques: Practice escape techniques from common holds and restraints.

Home Inspection: Conduct a thorough home inspection to identify potential vulnerabilities.
Secure Loose Objects: Secure loose objects, such as furniture, appliances, and outdoor items, to prevent them from becoming projectiles.
Barricade Materials: Have enough plywood or other hard materials on-hand to secure windows and doors. Consider a nail gun for prompt installation.
Reinforce Doors and Locks: Replace strike plate screws with longer ones to prevent door frames from being easily kicked in. Ad additional deadbolts at the top and bottom of the door.
